The dogs below are available for rehoming. Please take a look:
Billy - Pointer X, 3 yrs
This gorgeous big boy has been at Danemere for just about a year, and while we understand he may not be everybody’s cup of tea, we are truly baffled as to why he has had so little interest. All the staff absolutely adore Billy, and although we have come to love him dearly, we want more than anything to find him the forever home he deserves. Long-term kennel life simply does not suit our Billy-boy.
Billy does have some specific needs, so we are looking for a well-matched, experienced home where he can truly thrive.
Billy is highly intelligent, very people-orientated, and eager to please his handler. He already has good knowledge of general obedience, sit and paw, down, stay and is extremely trainable and motivated to learn more. He needs plenty of physical exercise to stretch his long legs, alongside lots of mental stimulation, structure, and routine. An adopter with experience of larger, active breeds would be ideal.
When Billy was first handed over to us he had issues with separation anxiety, although the kennels have been difficult for him in some ways we do believe it has helped with his independence and he has learned how to settle on his own and keep himself entertained when he isn’t directly with someone. However keeping his history and temperament in mind, we are looking for someone who will be around for most of the day to keep his mind stimulated and provide appropriate enrichment.
After spending so long in kennels, Billy has found it difficult to interact positively with other dogs. He was once happy with most dogs but now may bark and lunge and his reactions can be unpredictable. Some days he copes well, other days less so. For this reason, Billy would be best suited as an only pet in the home. We strongly believe this is something that could improve once he is settled in a home environment away from kennel stress. Where appropriate socialisation and exposure can be organised.
Billy would ideally suit a single-pet household with no children due to his big size and excitable nature. However homes with, older, dog-savvy children will be considered too.
Billy generally walks really well on a lead, he is very strong and does pull, especially when excited and wanting to greet people. His lead manners will need ongoing work, but with the right owner and consistency, this is absolutely achievable. He is extremely food-motivated and will do almost anything for a treat!
Most importantly, Billy is a huge cuddle monster. He is a big softie who adores affection and just wants to be close to his people.
Billy will thrive with an active adopter who enjoys adventures, training, and truly partnering with their dog. In return, Billy offers loyalty, intelligence, and endless affection. He simply needs time, understanding, patience, and an experienced home that will love him for exactly who he is.
Meet Narla the German Shepherd!
Narla is not with us as a rescue at the moment she is a boarder.
Sadly Narla is finding herself on her holidays with us more and more regular and for extended periods of time.. Spending more time in kennels than at home. Narla's owner has started to think about long term and so her owner has asked if we could put some information online, put the feelers out to see whether we could gain some interest and help find her a loving new home.
- 5 years old
- Must be the only pet in the household
- LOVES playing in water
- Loves walkies - good lead manners
- Very wary with new people however is great and very loving once she knows and trusts you - it just takes a little bit of time.
Narla has been in and out of kennels and sometimes spending a month and more with us. Poor Narla needs stability, love and time. If you think that you could potentially give this gorgeous girl a new lease of life please get in touch with us.
Charlie, Collie X, 8 Months old
Charlie came to Danemere after his previous owner was sadly no longer allowed to keep pets in their accommodation, meaning they had to make the very difficult decision to give him up for rehoming. He is now looking for a loving forever home where he can thrive.
Charlie is a typical young pup — full of energy, curiosity, and affection. As an active breed, he will need a home that is ready for adventure and able to stimulate his very active brain with an equally active lifestyle. He would suit adopters who enjoy getting outdoors, ongoing training, and providing mental enrichment.
Charlie is a very loving boy who adores human company. Although we are currently working on discouraging him from jumping up, this behaviour comes from excitement rather than bad manners. He loves a cuddle and will happily nuzzle in close for attention once he’s settled.
He gets on well with other dogs and enjoys canine company. With continued guidance, structure, and positive reinforcement, Charlie has all the potential to grow into a well-rounded and loyal companion.
